Tour a Croatian artist's historic workshop and art gallery

I’m an artist who works in recycled materials, and I invite you to visit the gallery and studio where I create sculptures and paintings inspired by Dubrovnik’s maritime history. • We’ll meet at the iconic Jesuit Stairs, one of Dubrovnik’s most beautiful Baroque landmarks, and walk to my nearby studio. • I’ll personally introduce myself and share about my work before Marijana, who has worked alongside me since her youth, will guide you through the workshop where I build large ships out of everyday objects, a form of art I call “distorted realism.” • You’ll then stroll through the Old Town to my gallery to see my collection of paintings inspired by Dubrovnik’s maritime heritage. The gallery itself offers one of the best views in town. You’ll get the chance to talk with Marijana and me about the creative process, learn more about Dubrovnik’s close connection to the sea, and leave with a postcard featuring photos of my work.

Ghosts & Mysteries of Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik offers many activities, but I am the first person who decided to offer a view of the city from a different perspective: exploring the dark side of it! This tour is the only ghost tour in Dubrovnik and you most certainly won't find anything remotely similar anywhere else in the city! This tour takes you into the lesser known suburb of the Old City (for the tour inside the old city check out my Dark tales of the Old Town tour). We will first meet at Boninovo, a part of Dubrovnik that was always veiled in darkness. There, you will hear about the turbulent history of the city's main cemetery and nearby old palaces. Following, we will explore the enchanting and evergreen Gradac park which, in the distant past, was one of the most notorious places in the city. Then we will continue through a labyrinth of old streets in Pile area and then we will end in front of the Pile gate. All along the way, we are going to see different historical sites, some of them reputed to be haunted, some of them known for other dark tales or legends. This is a fully-narrated walk, so expect to hear many stories, followed by the atmospheric surrounding of the evening walk through some lesser known parts of Dubrovnik. Other things to note! This walk is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for persons with walking disabilities. Also, it is not recommended for baby strollers.

Old Town Walking Tour

The tour starts at Pile Square. First we visit some sights outside the city walls. From a beautiful vantage point, enjoy a beautiful panorama overlooking the bay of Kolorina, with the Lovrijenac Fortress in the background. After a brief introduction, continue to Pile Gate and Stradun. Stroll down the limestone-paved main street and discover some of the narrow side streets. Here I will tell you all about local legends, curiosities and strange customs in Dubrovnik. Of course, you will also see important historical sights such as St. Blaise's Church, the Rector's Palace, the Cathedral and much more. At the local market in the old town, we leave the past behind and plunge back into the present, which awaits with the scents of fruits, lavender and fresh fish. The perfect place to end the tour and start the day.

Walking through history of Dubrovnik

We'll take a walk through Dubrovnik's history while re-living its most glorious, as well as it's darkest times. The tour starts at Pile gate where we'll emerge into this millennia-long story, starting with the arrival of the very first inhabitants. From their humble beginnings to the making of the City walls, you'll get a full understanding of the birth of Dubrovnik through chronological stories! In the Old town itself, we'll get to know the great Republic of Ragusa up-close and personal. We're going to get into the most important aspects of its past - religious, political and public - speaking of subjects such as: social awareness of the Government, natural disasters, progressive decisions, inventions and Ragusa's substantial downfall thanks to Napoleon himself! Not to dwell too much in the distant past, we'll also talk about more present times - from the Yugoslavian war in 1991, to the local life today in the Old town, in Dubrovnik and in Croatia, too. My stories and your questions will paint a picture of a highly advanced, medieval city-state that can still be found in the modern streets we walk on. Luckily, we know just where to find it :)
